Case Study: LP® SmartSide® Siding Installation

Project Overview
The homeowner contacted our team after dealing with recurring exterior dry rot repairs over several years. Ongoing maintenance and repainting had become a concern, and she was looking for a long-term, low-maintenance solution that would also refresh the appearance of the home. A complete re-siding project using LP® SmartSide® was selected to address durability, aesthetics, and future maintenance concerns.
Sales Representative: Gary Lee

Installer / Crew Lead: Sam Wrzesinski

Challenges and Design Considerations
The home presented areas of existing dry rot along the exterior, as well as a gable wall where the upper section did not align flush with the lower wall. In addition, the homeowner frequently decorates the exterior during holidays, which required a siding material that could better withstand repeated fastening without cracking.
Additional Notes
The homeowner planned to remain in the home long-term and wanted confidence that this would be the final exterior siding project she would need during her ownership.
Our Innovative Solutions
To ensure a clean, uniform finish, the installation team added an additional layer of plywood at the gable end to flush out the wall planes. This allowed the new siding to sit flat and deliver a seamless appearance. LP® SmartSide® was recommended over traditional fiber cement options to provide greater flexibility, durability, and resistance to cracking from repeated use of exterior fasteners.
Key Features / Upgrades:
LP® SmartSide® engineered wood siding for enhanced durability
Upgraded LP trim to reduce future maintenance and trim deterioration
Retained and refinished existing cedar accent wall for added character
Long-lasting paint finish designed to resist peeling and repaint cycles

Execution and Craftsmanship
Under the direction of crew lead Sam Wrzesinski, the installation team carefully removed damaged materials, addressed underlying issues, and installed the new siding system with attention to detail. Special care was taken to preserve the cedar accent wall while integrating it seamlessly with the new siding and trim.
