To find out if this is the case, time your cycle on a particularly hot day. If your system only runs for a few minutes and then shuts off, then you likely have an oversized system.

Excessive Indoor Humidity

When your air conditioner is running on short cycles, the cycle will not be long enough to remove humidity from the air. This is especially troublesome if you live in a humid environment. A properly sized air conditioner usually takes a cycle of between 20 to 30 minutes to cool and dehumidify the air.
