California Energy Consultant Service is Sacramento’s Favorite Replacement Window Contractor
Every window has a lifespan. As a window replacement company and energy efficiency contractor, we have the unique ability to connect you with beautiful, elegant windows that also save you money on your energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint.
California Energy Consultant Service can provide both replacement windows and new construction, but many opt for retrofit windows – a cost-saving solution that provides high-quality windows on a tighter budget. We provide retrofit windows throughout the Greater Sacramento area, including Orangevale, Folsom, Fair Oaks, Rancho Cordova, El Dorado Hills, Roseville, Rocklin, Elk Grove, and beyond. What Are Retrofit Windows?
There are two ways to install windows. One is “New Construction.” This is where a window is built into the wall, with siding and drywall placed around the windows to give it the same appearance as if it was originally built into the property. We do provide new construction for those that request it.
The other method is retrofit. Sometimes referred to as “Replacement Windows,” retrofit is an installation technique where – instead of building around the window, the new window is placed within the existing window opening and then sealed to prevent air leaks. No exterior components need to be removed in order to install retrofit, making it a much easier installation process for your window contractor.
This style of installation reduces material cost, installation time, and labor. Any window frame that was already placed within the siding remains in place, while the old window is removed and replaced with energy efficient glass.
What Are the Advantages of Retrofit Windows?
The primary advantage of retrofit windows is cost. Because the installation process is easier, retrofit replacement windows allow you to receive new, energy efficient glass for a more affordable price. There are many factors that affect the cost savings, but on average, you can expect to pay about 30% less for retrofit windows with installation.
In addition, retrofit windows offer:
- Faster Installation Process – Most windows can be installed in a day or two, rather than several days. Though this does depend on the size of the project, retrofit involves less time, less noise, and less stress.
- Limited Additional Labor – No additional siding will be needed, no drywall, and less stress about property damage. There are far fewer steps, which means far fewer things you need to worry about on your property.
- Less Risk of Disliking the Design – New construction allows you to choose new window shapes and sizes, which is great, but does run the risk that you may not like the final design. With replacement windows, you know exactly what you’re getting.
New construction is still a great option, but most people in the Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, and the surrounding area do tend to prefer replacement windows, as their pricing, speed of installation, and other elements make them more advantageous.
What are the Disadvantages of Retrofit Windows?
Replacement windows are a great choice for many Sacramento properties, but there is a reason that many people choose new construction instead. For example:
- Replacement windows limit you to the existing window space.
- Replacement windows cannot fix all drafty/leaking windows.
- Replacement windows do not have the built-in look that many love.
New construction is also a popular option, because it seals the window, looks completely natural with its installation, and allow you to alter or adjust the size of the window as needed. If you need help choosing between retrofit and new construction, our estimate team will be happy to walk you through these different options.
