Reasons Your Thermostat Is Not Reaching the Set Temperature

Your thermostat controls your home’s temperature and determines whether your HVAC system is turned on or off. Just like any device, it can malfunction. Listed are the most common reasons why your thermostat cannot reach the right temperature.

At California Energy Consultant Service, we offer HVAC solutions that ensure a comfortable temperature in your home. Discuss your needs with us by using the contact details at the bottom of this post.

Wrong Thermostat Size

If your thermostat is too big or small, it might struggle to reach the set temperature to cover your entire house. To avoid this issue, buy a thermostat that is suitable for the size of your home.

Incorrect Location

Take note that your thermostat reads the temperature of its surroundings. To ensure accurate readings, install your thermostat in a place that isn’t exposed to extreme temperatures. For example, if you install your thermostat near appliances that give off heat when running, that might cause your AC to turn on and your heater to turn off due to inaccurate temperature readings.

Poor Wi-Fi Connection

Many modern thermostats get updates and bug fixes through a Wi-Fi connection. However, if your thermostat is disconnected, it may glitch and fail to respond to remote commands. If the issue is because of the router, you can easily fix this by shutting it off for a minute and then turning it back on. But if this troubleshooting doesn’t work, review the manufacturer’s manual or call a professional.

Power Loss

If your thermostat’s screen has gone blank, it may have lost power. This will prevent the device from reaching the set temperature. If you notice that both your thermostat and furnace are not getting enough power, call a technician to have them repaired.

If you need professional help with your thermostat problems, turn to the experts at California Energy Consultant Service. We’ll listen to your HVAC needs and provide you with the best solutions. To schedule a consultation, call us at (916) 993-5000 or complete our contact form
