Scheduling Your Air Conditioning Repair Early

Today marks the end of an unusual – and arguably, much needed – winter here in the Sacramento region. While most of us are pretty tired of the rain and the cold, it’s hard to argue that it’s unwanted given the last few years of drought that we’ve had.

But it is coming to an end. Maybe not today, maybe not next week of the forecast is accurate, but soon. That means that it’s going to start heating up again – possibly very rapidly. All that time you’ve spent growing accustomed to the cold is going to make our already hot summers even hotter.

So the question now becomes – is your air conditioner up for the challenge?

Why to Schedule Your AC Repair Soon

It’s March. It’s cold. It’s definitely not time to power up your air conditioner. But it is time to think about the next steps. Your AC likely received a lot of abuse last year during the hot summer and fall and then, even though it was shut off, it likely even received more abuse from the dirt and debris that flew into it as a result of all this rain.

As soon as you turn your AC on, it’s going to be trying its best to work incredibly hard to keep your home cool. During that time it could be:

  • Using a lot of extra energy. Energy bills are still extremely high, and if your AC has to work harder because of all that abuse, then it’s going to cost you a lot more money.
  • Turning small problems into bigger ones. When there is a minor issue affecting your air conditioner, it’s possible for it to still run. But, over time, it is going to keep wearing away at the parts of your AC, potentially leading to larger and more expensive issues.

Every year, your AC is supposed to receive an annual tune up and maintenance. This allows us, as Sacramento HVAC contractors, to identify problems before they become real issues. The earlier we are able to do this, the better it will be for your wallet and your AC.

NOW is Not the Time – But Prepare for April

So does this mean you should schedule your AC repair or AC maintenance today? Probably not. It’s not considered a good idea to run your AC when it’s cold outside. But it is time to think about getting yourself on the calendar, and getting your AC maintenance without delay. April is typically a great time to schedule your air conditioning tune up, and if for any reason it’s still just as cold and rainy in April as it is in March, we are happy to reschedule you with advanced notice.

Serving Sacramento, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Rancho Cordova, Roseville, El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Elk Grove, and beyond, California Energy Consultant Service is ready to support you with your AC tuneup needs. Give us a call today to get started.
