Energy Efficiency

The Best Time to Schedule HVAC and Windows is Before the Heatwave.

The Second Best Time is Now.

It’s hot. Again. At this point, we’ve come to expect that it is going to be over 100 degrees for at least a few stretches here in Sacramento every year, but when temperatures reach as high as 109 and break records, again, it’s okay to admit that it is too hot.

This heat is at minimum uncomfortable, and at maximum dangerous. It is also a frequent reminder for many properties around the Greater Sacramento area that you are in need of a lot of energy efficient property upgrades:

  • AC Repair or Replacement.
  • Window Replacement.
  • New Energy Efficient Roofing.
  • New Energy Efficient Siding with Insulation.

Every one of these services takes time. AC repair can often be completed fairly quickly, at least here at Cal Energy, but most other services can take weeks or even months. Earlier last year, windows had a 6 month lead time from all manufacturers, and new ACs would still take as long as a week or two to arrive depending on the brand.

We’re often reminded of the energy efficient upgrades we need to make during a heatwave. It would likely have been a good idea to consider new windows, new HVAC, new roofing, and new siding months ago, long before it reached over 100 degrees. But it’s too late to go back in time. What you can do is schedule your energy efficiency upgrades now, so that you’re ready for the next heat wave – or before it becomes so cold in winter that you’re having the same thoughts once again.

The best time to schedule your energy efficiency upgrades was several months ago. The second best time is now.
